How to Create an App Password

App passwords allow third-party email clients to connect to your account when they do not support Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). Since these applications cannot prompt you for a login code, a unique app password fills that gap to keep your account accessible and secure.

Instructions

  1. Log into the Purelymail Account Admin portal (via the account login page, not Webmail).

  2. Select User from the top navigation bar.

  3. Click on the specific user that requires the app password.

  4. Scroll to the App Passwords section and click the Add New button.

  5. Provide a name for the password (e.g., "Outlook" or "Mobile Mail") to generate the code.

  6. Copy the password and enter it directly into your application in place of your normal password.

The app password is only displayed once at the time of creation. Make sure to copy it before navigating away from the page.
