Technical Setup Guide for IMAP, SMTP, and POP3

This article provides the necessary server settings to connect any third-party mail client (like Outlook, Thunderbird, or Apple Mail) to your Purelymail account.

  • Incoming Mail (IMAP): This is the recommended protocol for viewing mail across multiple devices.

    • Server: imap.purelymail.com

    • Port: 993

    • Encryption: SSL/TLS

  • Outgoing Mail (SMTP): Used for sending messages.

    • Server: smtp.purelymail.com

    • Port: 465 (with SSL/TLS) or Port 587 (with STARTTLS)

  • Incoming Mail (POP3): Use this only if you want to download mail to a single device and remove it from the server.

    • Server: pop3.purelymail.com

    • Port: 995

    • Encryption: SSL/TLS

  • Username: Always use your full email address (e.g., user@yourdomain.com).

  • Password: Your account password, or an App Password if 2FA is enabled.

Mobile Device Configuration (iOS and Android)

You can access your Purelymail account on any mobile device using standard mail applications.

  • iOS (iPhone/iPad): Navigate to Settings > Mail > Accounts > Add Account. Select "Other" and then "Add Mail Account." Enter the IMAP and SMTP details from above.

  • Android (Gmail/Samsung Mail): Open your mail app, go to Settings, and select "Add Account." Choose "Other" or "Manual Setup." Use IMAP for the account type.

  • Gmail App Specifics: Ensure you select "Personal (IMAP)" rather than Google. Enter your full email address as the username and use the standard server ports (993 for incoming, 465 for outgoing).
